After a bicyclist crashed near Highway 32, a helicopter was called to airlift the man to a hospital.
The man crashed on the South Rim Trail after his bike tire washed out and hit a rock. His friend called 911 once he realized he couldn't move.
Chico Fire hiked 45 minutes to get to the injured man. After they secured him, Chico Fire called in for a Cal Fire helicopter.
Rescuers are not releasing too many details of the man but they said he is in his thirties and is not from Chico. They say the man suffered moderate hip injuries and a possible leg fracture.
"Rescuers were already on scene. Already made contact with the patient. They already had the patient packaged and ready to go," said Byron Vance of Cal Fire.
Firefighters brought the injured man to a turnout off Highway 32 and transported him to the Enloe Medical Center helicopter.
