Update: Man's Lung Punctured in Stabbing Outside of America's Tire in Redding

REDDING, Calif. -

Police told us a 22-year-old is being treated for a punctured lung after being stabbed in front of America's Tire in Redding on Thursday.

Jarrod Stuart Windle, 22, had been stabbed in the chest one time by Edward Boykin, 41, of Redding. Boykin was arrested at the scene based on witness accounts of the stabbing.

The investigation in the stabbing involved multiple witness accounts as well as statements from the victim and the suspect.

According to investigators, Boykin was riding a bicycle through the area when he saw Windle. Due to a prior history of confrontations with Boykin, police said Windle physically attacked the suspect and punched him several times.

Windle began running from the scene when Boykin produced a knife. Boykin caught up with Windle and stabbed him once in the side of the chest.

Police said Boykin was arrested and booked at the Shasta County Jail for attempted homicide and possession of methamphetamine.

Windle remains in serious condition.
