Update: Mobile Home Homicide Victim Identified

CHICO, Calif. -

Chico police have released the name of a homicide victim who was shot in the head in a Chico mobile home park.

The shooting happened Sat., Apr. 6 at Creekside Village Mobile Home Park in North Chico at 3549 Esplanade.

The man was found sitting in a pickup truck with a gunshot wound to head just before 5 p.m.

The victim's name is Jeronimo Valladares-Mata, 52, of Corning. Valladares-Mata died on Apr. 12 due to injuries related to the shooting. He was also the brother of a previous homicide victim – Audelino Valladares-Mata, who was murdered on Aug. 1, 2007 at 123 Henshaw Ave.

During that 2007 homicide, Audelino Valladares-Mata was killed by an assailant with a handgun in a trailer park during daylight hours. That homicide remains unsolved.

Now, police are investigating both homicides simultaneously.

Police said there were no witnesses to the  2013 shooting. At the scene, they searched the blue Nissan Frontier pickup where the man was found.  It had a decal in the back window which said Budget Handyman.
