REDDING, Calif. -

A wanted parolee faces new charges after a high speed chase through Shasta County.  Police arrested Jose Juan Rabago, 28, who was wanted on several warrants for a parole violation.

The chase started just before 11 p.m. Tuesday when a Redding Police officer tried to make a traffic stop on a 1992 Lexus coupe in the 2200 block of Hilltop Drive in Redding.

The driver refused to yield and traveled down Interstate 5 at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

The right rear tire blew out, and disintegrated off the rim.  The car reduced speed, but continued into the city of Anderson.

The pursuit continued on city streets until the car finally stopped on West Center Street near Ferry Road.

Police said the driver, Jose Rabago, an AB-109 parolee,  was on parole for felony evasion.  The passenger in the car Christina Cardenas, 39, was forced against her will to stay in the vehicle.
