ANDERSON, Calif. -

The identity of the woman who died in a fatal motorcycle crash has been released.

It happened at Canyon Road and China Gulch Drive in Anderson around 9 Sunday night.

According to CHP, 41-year-old Sherrie Ward of Redding was following her boyfriend on her Harley Davidson motorcycle.

They were driving on Canyon Road toward Happy Valley when she crashed into an embankment.

CHP said according to her boyfriend, they were riding at about 55 miles per hour when he looked back and saw Ward was no longer behind him.

He told officers Ward only had one drink before she got on the motorcycle.

CHP said they won't know if she was legally drunk until an autopsy is performed.

While we were at the scene, officers recovered a helmet from nearby brush.

No roads were closed.

Officers said they tried CPR when they first arrived, but it was too late.
