If you suffer from migraines there are ways to try to treat the severe headaches at home.

According to the Mayo Clinic, muscle relaxation exercises can help. You can try yoga or meditation to get your body to relax.

Sleep is another way to treat a migraine. Getting the recommended six to eight hours of sleep a night – and going to bed at a regular time can help.

When you feel a headache coming on, the Mayo Clinic suggests relaxing in a dark, quiet room. The hospital also recommends placing an ice pack on the back of your neck.

The Mayo Clinic also recommends keeping a journal that logs your headaches. This will help during your next doctor visit so you can show how often they occur and find some possible triggers.
