Willows Company Designs Rose Parade Float for Department of Defense
A company from Willows will play an important role in Tuesday's Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena.
Whitney Stone, Inc., or WSI, handled design, construction and event management for a very special float for the Department of Defense. The float will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Korean War.
WSI employees about 20 people at its headquarters in Willows in Glenn County.
Four employees are in Pasadena to oversee the finishing touches.
The float is a replica of the Korean War Memorial in Washington, D.C. The float stands 21 feet tall, and stretches 55 feet long.
If you're watching the parade Tuesday morning, it will be in position 76.
In honor of Korean War anniversary the B-2 flyover which traditionally happens at the beginning of the parade, will instead happen when the defense float turns the corner at Orange Grove Boulevard and Colorado Street around 9:40 a.m. California time.
