WEAVERVILLE, Calif. -

The McKinleyville woman convicted of drowning her 2-year-old daughter in the Trinity River last year was back in court Monday morning.

She was ordered by the judge to be committed to Napa State Hospital. In December, a jury found Pedreros guilty of involuntary manslaughter instead of murder. Jurors determined that Pedreros was insane when she committed the crime.

After drowning her daughter in May of 2011, authorities found Pedreros walking nude along Highway 3.  Investigators said she admitted to the drowning.  Defense attorneys argued in court the 30-year-old had a long history of mental illness, dating back to age 15.

District Attorney Adam Grace said it's unknown exactly how long Pedreros will remain at Napa State Hospital but will be there for a minimum of six months, maximum 11-years and four months.
