The Shasta County Sheriff's Office has found several acid bombs in mailboxes located in Happy Valley.
Sergeant Barnhart of the Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that the bombs were made by combining acid with a reactive metal inside a plastic container, normally a drink bottle. The containers were then placed in mailboxes where they would eventually rupture and spill the highly acidic mixture.
According to Sgt. Barnhart the devices found in the Northstate were large enough that they could cause significant damage to a person.
The Sheriff's Office said if you see something suspicious in your mailbox or anyone tampering with your mailbox to call them immediately.
