CHICO, Calif. -

Roads are now open in North Chico after an alleged DUI crash sheared off a power pole along the Esplanade near Eaton Road.

The collision happened Saturday night at 9:22 p.m.  A car slammed into a utility pole at Esplanade and Tonea Way, causing widespread power, phone and cable outages in North Chico.

Power has been restored and the roadway opened Sunday morning around 8:30 a.m.

The driver, 56 year old Luis Valdovino, was not injured, but was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Esplanade was closed from Eaton Road to Innsbruck Way.  Crews from PG&E, AT&T and Comcast arrived to complete the necessary repairs.  Comcast was still working in the area around 10 a.m. and PG&E had just completed work.
