Armed man arrested after a standoff

Anderson Police arrested a man after he reportedly barricaded himself in his home with a rifle and meat cleaver.

Police say 34-year-old Kao Saelee of Anderson was running around inside his home on the 3600 block of Webster Drive in Anderson Wednesday night. Officers responded around 6:15 p.m. and a family member told officers Saelee was possibly under the influence of drugs or having mental health issues.

Shasta County Sheriff Deputies assisted police in blocking off the surrounding roadways and perimeter of the Anderson home.  People living nearby were told by police to stay inside their homes.

Family members described the standoff as a very scary and tense situation.  Saelee exited the front door of the home holding a rifle and meat cleaver.  Police told Saelee to drop his weapons, and he followed orders.  Saelee was booked into Shasta County Jail for several warrants; additional charges may also be applied.
