Armed robbery suspects could be linked to a series of crimes

CHICO, Calif. -

Two suspects are in custody after a pair of armed robberies in Chico Tuesday night.  Police are investigating if the pair may have been involved in a string of up to six robberies over the last month.     

The suspects are 24-year-old Joshua Gomez and 20-year-old Lissette Gomez, both of Orland.  The first robbery happened at the Jackpot Food Mart on Walnut Street just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.  Investigators said a man, later identified as Joshua Gomez, pulled a semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash from the clerk.

A second robbery happened about two hours later at the Tower Mart on East Lassen Avenue.  An officer spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving the area.  An enforcement stop was conducted and the driver and passenger were detained.

The driver was Lissette Gomez and the passenger was Joshua Gomez.  Officers said Lissette Gomez was the getaway driver in both robberies.

Police are also investigating if the pair is responsible for several other robberies over the last month.  

- December 18 at the Chico Petroleum station on West First Street.
- December 31 at Next Door Pharmacy on Cohasset Road.
- January 2 at Subway Sandwiches on West Sacramento Avenue.
- January 3 at Reliance Gas Station at East First and Mangrove Avenues.
