Ford recalls 83,000 vehicles
Updated On: Aug 15 2014 03:49:48 PM CDT
Ford is recalling 83,250 vehicles for potential problems with the halfshaft and linkshaft.
According to the recall notice, the halfshaft retention circlip may have been improperly installed in the affected vehicles, which could cause the halfshaft to disengage from the linkshaft while the car is being driven. This would prevent power from going to the wheels.
This issue could also cause the car to roll away when the vehicle is in park if the parking brake isn't applied.
The recalled vehicles include:
- 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured Sept. 2, 2010, to Nov. 30, 2013
- 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured Aug. 25, 2011, to Nov. 30, 2013
- 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured Sept. 12, 2011, to Nov. 30, 2013
The recall is scheduled to start by Aug. 29, and Ford will notify owners of the recalled vehicles. The recall notice said owners may call Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673, referencing Ford recall number 14S10, or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
