CHICO, Calif. -

Winds pushed a hot air balloon a little off target Saturday morning in Chico.

The owners of Skydancer Balloon Company took their balloon out for a ride over Chico to spread the word about their business, and spread a little holiday cheer.  Pilot Brann Smith and Crew Chief Marie Smith were decked out in holiday hats and had the basket decorated with bright red Christmas tree skirts.

Marie Smith told KRCR News Channel 7 they intended to land in a parking lot at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds, but the gusty winds pushed them off course.  Then they aimed for a field near Costco, but again the winds did  not cooperate.

Soon the wind pushed them across Highway 99, where they were finally able to land in a field next to the Shell Station on Forest Avenue around 10:30.  This all happened over one of Chico's busiest business districts.  The bright yellow and orange balloon soon attracted a crowd.

Smith said they've been open in Chico for more than a year and were hoping to draw attention to the business.
