Chico State nursing student critically injured after being hit by an alleged DUI Driver

21-year-old Kristina Chesterman,  Chico State nursing student was left brain dead after she was struck by an alleged drunk driver while riding her bike home on Nord Avenue.

CHICO, Calif. -

We have new information about the Chico State student hit by a car overnight.

Her family tells KRCR News Channel 7 her name is Kristina Chesterman, 21, from the Bay Area.  According to her mother, Kristina is not doing well in the hospital.  Chesterman is a nursing student at Chico State.
The collision happened around 11 p.m. Sunday on Walnut/Nord avenue near West 1st Street, adjacent to the Chico State campus.

Chesterman was hit by a vehicle while riding her bike.  

Police say the driver, 19-year-old Riley Hoover then hit a parked car and was arrested for DUI and felony hit and run.

We've also learned, the victim, Kristina Chesterman is the sister of Daniel Chesterman, also of the Bay Area.

Daniel Chesterman, 19, was seriously injured after he was punched in the face while visiting Chico State in February.  The suspect was eventually arrested after he tweeted about the attack.

The suspect in that case, Rodney Freeman, later pleaded no contest in court.
