Big crowd shows up for Oroville health fair
A health fair Saturday drew as many as a thousand people to the Oroville Sports Club.
The 6th annual event put on by Oroville Hospital offered free health screenings, information booths on healthy living, fun activities and even an appearance by Oroville Hospital's Reach helicopter.
"We've had a great turnout," said Oroville Hospital's Cherith Taylor. "We've gotten to meet all ages, from senior citizens all the way down to little babies. And the children right now are currently doing the da Vinci competition. We've got a fishing booth going on, we've got pulmonary function tests and lots of screenings."
One of the fun interactive attractions, the da Vinci competition, let youths operate a robotic virtual surgery machine which is used to perform surgeries from continents away.
The child who most effectively operated the machine won a limo ride down to Intuitive Surgical's headquarters in Sunnyvale to get a tour of the facility and learn all about the machines.
Oroville fire personnel and CHP were also on hand showing off their rides and talking with the public.
It was the healthy choice of hundreds in Oroville Saturday.
