The Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital announced on Thursday night that they will start expanding their emergency room.
The announcement was made during the annual 'Ice Cream Social' where community members can come to hear new plans.
The hospital said it anticipates having six new rooms along with two triage facilities to help patients in the Biggs-Gridley area. Biggs-Memorial was also able to get new equipment into the hospital such as new CT scan machines and digital X-Ray machines.
"This will actually give us the ability to have a true ER set up where we can triage patients faster,” Wade Sturgeon, CEO of Biggs-Memorial. "We can get to them efficiently and get them out of the facility quicker in the event that they need to go to a larger facility."
The project cost around $10 million and the project should be done by the end of next year.
