Burn restrictions are set to be lifted in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest on Sat., Sept. 21st.

The U.S. Forest Service says there is still danger for fires to get out of control. The forest averages about 206 wildfires that affect 20,950 acres each year, but a reduction in human-caused fires drastically reduced this number so far in 2013.

Those possessing a valid California Campfire Permit must always adhere to certain rules:

  • Clear all flammable material up to at least 10 ft. away from the fire.
  • Have a shovel at the campsite ready for extinguishing campfires.
  • Have a responsible adult in attendance at all times.
  • Extinguish campfires with water using the "drown, stir and feel" method.
