REDDING, Calif. -

The California State Medical Board is being asked to revoke or suspend the license of Dr. James Gregory White of Redding, citing 18 causes for discipline including gross negligence and over-prescribing pain-killing drugs that led to death.

White, who is a pain doctor, was not at his office on Wednesday afternoon but his attorney, Michael Scheibli said the accusations are a "witch hunt."

This was not Dr. White's first run-in with the medical board. He had his license revoked in 2005 for issues surrounding his prescribing practices and in 2009, he was issued a citation for not paying probation monitoring costs in 2008.

Dr. White's license was restored in 2010.
