COTTONWOOD, Calif. -

A Cottonwood toddler had a close call with a rattlesnake.

Fortunately, 1-year-old Siennah is just fine, despite a small rattlesnake that wrapped around her leg trying to take a bite.

Her mother, Sarah Mantor, captured the frightening encounter on tape.  The family was relaxing Saturday in a yard in Cottonwood.

In the video, a small rattlesnake slithers through the grass to where Siennah was picking up a soccer ball.

The snake appears to try to bite the girl's leg, then wraps its body around her leg.

Once Mantor realized what was happening, she dropped the camera to get the snake away from her daughter.

"I'm still in shock," said Mantor.  "It's a scary thing for a parent. I kind of feel like it was an act of God, it strikes her a couple times and she's here today."

Siennah's grandfather Paul Mantor wasn't so kind to the rattler. He tore the snake into pieces.

"I said something like, strike my granddaughter, then some of those choice words.  So yeah, it's personal," said Paul Mantor.

Sarah Mantor wants other parents to hear her story so they're aware of the dangers.

"Just be aware of your surroundings, right there it can happen so fast."
