REDDING, Calif. -

A problem with a fiber optic line has left thousands of customers in Shasta and Tehama Counties without phone and internet service.

The outage started just after 10 a.m. Thursday.  Comcast representatives told KRCR News Channel 7 a fiber optic line was broken somewhere between Yuba City and Sacramento.

Customers were impacted in a variety of ways.  Some home and business customers lost phone and internet service.  At some businesses, that meant credit card transactions could not be completed.  There is no estimate when service will be restored.
