Chico residents asked not to use woodstoves & fireplaces
Updated On: Dec 10 2013 02:14:22 PM CST
The Butte County Air Quality Management District is requesting residents of Chico to voluntarily refrain from using their woodstoves and fireplaces starting at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday to the following midnight.
The voluntary curtailment has been prompted by an air quality forecast of Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups for the Chico area.
Woodstove and fireplace use within the Chico City Limits is restricted by a City ordinance. For more information, contact the City of Chico at 896-7800 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Residential chimney smoke is a major source of wintertime air pollution in Butte County.
