EVANSVILLE, Indiana -

Wednesday night the Chico State men's basketball team will make their first appearance in the Elite 8 of the March Madness basketball tournament.    They are among the eight Division II finalists competing in Evansville, Indiana.  The Wildcats won their first West Region title after beating Cal State Stanislaus.

Chico State faces University of South Carolina Aiken at 6:30 p.m. PT Wednesday.  The USC Aiken Pacers are returning to the Elite 8 for the second time and are ranked 5th in the country.

If the Wildcats win Wednesday night, they will advance to the semi-final round to face the winner of the Drury-West Liberty game.

If you'd like to watch or listen to the game, you can watch streaming video on the Chico State Athletics website, www.chicowildcats.com or at  NCAA.com/liveschedule .

On the radio, KPAY AM 1290 will also carry the game with play by play announcer Mike Baca.

Chico State faces a tough challenge against the Pacers.  USC Aiken played last year in the quarterfinal round, but lost to the eventual champion Drury.  They've won 32 games this season, the most of any Division II team, winning their last 14 games.  The Pacers lead the nation in blocked shots per game.
