A north Chico woman is searching for a dog that bit her Tuesday in the hopes that she can avoid uncomfortable rabies.
85-year-old Peggy Nay, an avid cyclist, was returning home from a 15 mile bike ride Tuesday when she came across the path of a man walking his dog near East Lassen Ave.
Nay says the dog's owner came close to let the dog sniff her bike and that's when the dog suddenly jumped up and bit her arm.
The bite isn't serious but the wound did require a trip to a walk-in clinic to be closed up.
Nay says she doesn't want the man or the dog to get in any trouble.
"I just don't want to have the rabies shot," Nay says. "It was a beautiful dog, well cared for. He (the owner) was really nice, he told me to go home and put peroxide on it. I want to make sure that the dog had his rabies vaccinations."
Nay describes the dog as looking similar to a belgian shepherd, with fairly long silky black hair that also had some brown and white markings.
Neighbors tell nay they have seen the man and his dog in the Waterford Dr area near East Lassen.
