CHP patrol car involved in crash that sent 3 to the hospital

BIGGS, Calif. -

A car accident involving a CHP patrol car and another vehicle sent three people to the hospital Sunday night in Butte County.

The collision happened at Highway 99 and B Street just east of Biggs around 8:45 p.m. Sunday.  According to a CHP news release, the patrol car driven by Officer Caleb Stewart and a Ford Fusion driven by 35-year-old Steven Fox Jr. were both northbound on Highway 99.
     
Investigators did not provide information about how the two cars collided.  The airbags deployed and all the people in both vehicles were wearing seatbelts.

Fox suffered moderate injuries, including pain to his ankle and shoulder.  His passengers, 54-year-old Nancy Fox of Oroville, and a 4-year-old girl from Biggs both suffered minor injuries.  The three were taken to Oroville Hospital.

The officer suffered minor injuries.  The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
