Christmas gets an early start in Trinity County
Santa Claus has arrived in Lewiston, giving Christmas an early start.
Lewiston has long been one of the first stops for this Santa impersonator.
“It's the funnest place where I do Christmas. Every year, this is one of the first places I stop, because the people of Lewiston are so special to put this event on.”
Santa was examining the historic bridge across the Trinity River while elves helped decorate it for the Lewiston Bridge Lighting.
The bridge will be covered with new lights this year, thanks to a grant from the McConnell Fund through the Shasta Regional Community Foundation.
As always, Santa will make an appearance along with fireworks, after all, it's tradition.
“Christmas in Lewiston is special because it's right on the river. It's got the beautiful river, we've got fireworks, we've got Santa, we've got food, and we’ve got craft vendors," said Santa.
The Lewiston Bridge Lighting is Saturday, November 30th.
Santa will start taking Christmas wishes around 3 p.m.
The fireworks go off at 5:30 p.m., followed by Santa crossing the bridge.
Then the party moves to the old Lewiston Hotel for music and dancing.
