Cinco De Mayo started early for Shasta College students. The college held its 22nd Annual Cinco De Mayo celebration.
The event had different Folklorico dancers, a Baleros competition and different dance performances put on by the Shasta College PUENTE students.
Along with the celebration, Shasta students were able to enjoy a tamale lunch and even a piñata for the children.
“We want the community to help celebrate the event with us,” said Coordinator of the event Sylvia Ruano. “We have a huge diversity of students and we want the community to come out here and celebrate.”
The event went from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Shasta College quad.
More Cinco De Mayo events include the Los Caballitos de la Cancion at Sol Mexican Grill Cinco De Mayo Party in Chico. This will include food, dancing and entertainment.
