City of Chico seeks input for improvement for Caper Acres
The park commission for the city of Chico has put together a work plan to improve the Caper Acres playground at Bidwell Park.
Before they have come up with a master plan, city officials asked citizens what they think needs to be fixed.
"You know this is a place where so many people for all ages of Chico," said Rosemary Ocampo, a frequent park visitor. "Anybody who comes to Chico this is the place to be."
"We want to get priorities and get a list of what needs to get done out here," said Dan Efseaff, park and natural resource manager for the city of Chico.
City officials and citizens walked around the playground, and pointed out problems that needed to addressed. Efseaff said that despite the lack of funds in the budget, he still wants to know how to improve Caper Acres.
"Even if we didn't have the challenges with the budget, we still need to fix whatever else is out here," said Efseaff.
It was suggested that the bathroom needs some work, and some of the wood on the park structures need to be replaced. Others asked for better security after hours.
"It's heart breaking when you see it get vandalized," said Ocampo.
If you didn't make it out caper acres this afternoon, you can email the city your suggestions.
