REDDING, Calif. -

A wanted sex offender was recaptured after U.S. Marshals found him hiding under a pile of clothing.

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office said William "Dale" Croy, 27, was taken into custody Monday in the Dana area.

Deputies and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force found Croy hiding in a closet inside a trailer.  They found him under a pile of clothing.

Croy was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail for not registering as a sex offender and absconding from parole.

In 2007, Croy was sentenced to 10 years in prison.  He was released in 2012 after serving 5 years.

Croy was initially charged in 2007 for torture, assault with a deadly weapon and attempted rape of an elderly woman ini the Fall River Mills area.
