Corning's 5th annual Children's Day a big hit

The 5th annual Children's Day at Corning's Northside Park was a chance for children and parents to have some fun in the sun while learning about the myriad services offered in Tehama County.
And hundreds took advantage of it.
Dozens of booths offered games, arts, crafts and activities that were kid oriented and offered prime information on such things as proper nutrition and safety.
For instance, a bicycle connected to a blender had kids spinning their own smoothies.
Each year the event is hosted by the West Street Family Resource Center in conjunction with Northern Valley Catholic Social Service.
"It's just to be with your kids," says Carol Curry with West Street Family Resource Center, "do some activities and just have fun. Kids can come out, have a good time, and parents can get some information from all these great agencies in our county."
Participating in the event was the local chapter of the Red Cross, the Corning Police Department, the Tehama County Child Abuse Prevention Council, and the University of California's "Cal Fresh Nutrition Education Program," among others.
The day ended with free swimming at the community pool, hosted by the Corning Rotary Club.
