OROVILLE, Calif. -

On Tuesday, the defense gave its version of what happened the night that Butte County Pastor David Yang was killed two years ago.

Jeffery Menzies is the suspect on trial for Yang's murder and on Tuesday, his attorney called a handful of people to the stand who knew Menzies on a personal level.

Nicole Brown and Sheena Moon who told jurors they were close friends with Menzies.  They also called Menzies’ ex-girlfriend, Joy Pendell, to the stand.

All of them testified that Menzies was a great warm-hearted person.  The defense then called Menzies' father, Tim, to the stand.

He is reportedly the last person who was with Jeffery in the hours before the shooting happened.

The witnesses were all asked what kind of clothes Menzies typically wore and all answered that it he typically dressed in a different style than that of the clothing found at the crime scene.

The trial will continue on Wednesday.
