Deputies find drugs and stolen shotgun during traffic stop
A Gridley man was arrested after a traffic stop revealed drugs and a stolen shotgun that was reportedly concealed in the back seat of his vehicle.
According to a news release from the Butte County Sheriff's Office, a deputy initiated a traffic stop just after 10 p.m. Sunday, at Claremont Drive and Lower Wyandotte Road near Oroville.
The deputy pulled over the vehicle driven by Jose Florendino Garcia, 26, of Gridley.
A sheriff's office K-9 "Sig," conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle and alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. During a search, deputies located suspected methamphetamine and marijuana hash oil.
Unspent shotgun shells (24) were also located. Deputies said they also found a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun, concealed inside in the back seat.
A serial number check on the shotgun revealed that the weapon had been stolen in a residential burglary in Gridley.
Garcia was arrested for several weapon and narcotic related offenses and booked into the Butte County Jail with a bail of $135,000.
