BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. -

Deputies are investigating a Thanksgiving Day shooting in the Feather Falls area.

A gunshot victim was reported around 1:20 p.m. Thursday. According to the caller, the victim was shot in the face and the shooting had occurred at an unknown address on Long Point Road in Feather Falls.

While deputies were responding to the area, they located the victim parked on Lumpkin Road near Forbestown Road. Medical personnel responded and transported the victim by helicopter to a hospital.

When deputies arrived at the residence on Long Point Road, the suspect, who has not yet been identified, fled into a heavily wooded area. Deputies along with the Butte County Sheriff’s helicopter searched the area and were unable to locate the suspect. At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown.

"All I know is that he's a white male, six foot, and over 200 pounds.  He was wearing a red shirt and khaki pants," said Sergeant Matt Keeling from the Butte County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say a large illegal marijuana garden was located on the property during the search for the suspect.  The victim is in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Butte County Sheriff’s Office at (530) 538-7321.
