JONES VALLEY, Calif. -

Shasta County deputies and the SWAT team responded to a shooting in the Jones Valley area Monday morning.

It started around 5 a.m. off Dry Creek Road.  Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko said a deputy responded to investigate a bullet that hit a residence along East Valley Trail off Elk Trail West.

While the deputy was investigating, another shot was fired, barely missing the deputy.  The deputy called for backup and the SWAT team responded.

Deputies located a person of interest who they questioned.  As of 9 a.m. no arrests had been made.  Deputies were waiting for a search warrant to be issued before they could continue their investigation.  The SWAT team exited the area.

Dry Creek Road remained closed at the Dry Creek Bridge.
