RED BLUFF, Calif. -

Disgraced Eagle Scout Dustin Hedrick is spending his first nights in prison Wednesday night.

He was sentenced this week to six years in prison for lewd acts with a minor under the age of 14.

The victim's father does not want us to identify him, but he shared his story.

"Putting a feeling to it is hard to do," said the victim's father.  "I still feel 20 to 30 years or death by hanging would have been more appropriate, but I'm satisfied with six years that this guy knows he's got. Six years putting up with people who believe in child molesters."

The criminal acts started in Red Bluff at a Boy Scout event when Hedrick was 19 and the victim 13.

It continued on a Boy Scout trip to Virginia and then again at Camp Lassen in Butte Meadows.  It ended when Hedrick was arrested last June.

"I actually expected the judge to grant probation and then I was going to stand up and probably commit contempt of court with statements.  I was fully ready to go to jail today," said the victim's father.

The victim read a very emotional prepared statement.

In it, he admitted he never told Hedrick no, but also pointed out he was so young and Hedrick was offering him acceptance from an older crowd.

He said Hedrick, "Betrayed his position of trust to fulfill his own sexual fantasies.  He never cared about me or my well-being"

The victim ended his statement by telling the court he tried to kill himself in September of 2012 because he was so distraught over what had happened.

"He got six years even though we are going to be suffering many years after what happened," said the victim's father.

The victim's family is planning to file a motion to strip Hedrick's title as an Eagle Scout. Hedrick can still appeal this sentence within 60 days.
