HAMILTON CITY, Calif. -

Hamilton City Elementary School was placed on precautionary lockdown Monday after a report of a domestic violence incident near the school, possibly involving a gun.

The call came in from Broadway Avenue at 2:04 p.m. Monday.  Deputies said a 12-year-old girl called 911 to report her 30-year-old mother was being attacked by her father.  When asked if there were weapons involved, the girl told the dispatcher there was a gun.

A deputy realized that Hamilton City Elementary School was about to release its students for the day, and students' main pedestrian route of travel through the area where the suspect was believed to be.

Hamilton  City Schools were placed on precautionary lockdown.  An ambulance and Hamilton City Fire Department responded and were instructed to stage.  Deputies determined it was a physical fight between the daughter and father.  The victim suffered minor facial injuries and refused to press charges against her father.

Deputies could not determine if a firearm had ever been involved.  The schools were then taken off of the precautionary lockdown.  This was the third domestic violence call sheriff's deputies had responded to in Hamilton City in less than 72 hours.
