ANDERSON, Calif. -

Many families who have been victims of the Clover Fire are searching for the pets they had to leave behind, hoping one of the many organizations searching for animals or taking them in has them.

According to some of the temporary caretakers, several of the animals are lucky to be alive. Some cats have suffered minor to severe burns and now they are recuperating, waiting for their owners to find them.

Haven Humane also has some horses and goats.

Officials there said they are thankful that the community has stepped up and helped these animals.

Haven Humane Society's CEO, Mark Storrey said owners shouldn't give up on looking for their pets, adding that sometimes it can take a couple of weeks to find them.

Haven Humane said it's important to contact them first in the search for your pet to see if they know anything about these missing animals.
