Redding Police say a white man was fatally struck by a Union Pacific train Sunday afternoon.
The collision was reported around 3:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
The man walked in front of the train about 200 yards south of South Street and came to rest at the intersection of Gold and Waldon Streets, according to Sgt. Bart Langley with the Redding Police Department.
All railroad crossings north of South St. and south of Shasta St. were closed for nearly two hours.
Law enforcement had cars and people being diverted from the area until they could get the scene clear.
Officers are still working to identify the victim.
