On Wednesday, a road in Tehama County will be closed while the authorities dispose of explosives found in a shed on Johnson Road in Red Bluff.
According to a news release from the Tehama County Sheriff's office, a resident found explosive items while cleaning out a shed Monday afternoon. The items include dynamite, liquid explosives and blasting caps.
The items apparently came from a relative who had been previously involved in mining operations and stored the materials in the shed. The sheriff's office said there is no information to suggest there was any criminal intent for the items.
The Regional Bomb Squad, FBI and Office of Emergency Services are part of the operation. The FBI initially responded and showed interest in the substances. The bureau is remaining on scene to monitor the situation.
Residents in the area were notified of the situation. Evacuations have not been deemed necessary.
Johnson Road west of Red Bluff will be closed Wednesday during the disposal. The public is advised to stay away from the area for safety reasons.
The staging area for the agencies will be at Johnson and Reeds Creek Roads, west of Red Bluff.
