A fire in an attached garage had the structure engulfed in flames, as officials investigated for arson.
Around 8:40 a.m. on Sunday, firefighters responded to the corner of Sunrise Drive and Lake Avenue in Red Bluff.
CAL FIRE officials said the neighbors who called 911 told them there was a vehicle on fire in the garage that got the blaze started.
CAL FIRE, the Tehama County Fire Department, the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office, Red Bluff Fire and the Red Bluff Police Department all responded to the scene.
It took more than 30-minutes to get the fire under control.
Both neighbors and firefighters said the occupant of the home, a woman, was outside when the fire first started. A further search of the residence revealed no other people inside.
Multiple neighbors at the scene said the woman poured gasoline on her own car in the garage, lit the car on fire, and then walked away.
Law enforcement have not yet confirmed those details.
Officials said an arson investigation is underway.
We will have more information as it becomes available.
