Bills for the annual State of California Fire Prevention Fee have started going out and those affected are noticing it has increased slightly from last year.
The 2013 fee was $150 and due to inflation has been increased to $152.33.
Property owners who are required to pay the fee live on land that is within areas protected by CALFIRE and other state agencies should a fire breakout nearby.
Fire fee bills will be sent out alphabetically by county, and have already been delivered to many California property owners.
Payments or appeals of the fee must be submitted within 30 days of the date printed on the bill.
Anyone who can't afford the fee can set up a payment plan by visiting the California State Board of Equalization page.
