Nine spot fires were sparked by lightning in Butte County on Monday, five of those nine are now contained.

Of the fires that were contained, one was sparked in the Canyon Oaks subdivision near Shallow Springs Terrace just north of Highway 32 in Chico around 6:45 a.m. on Monday.

CAL FIRE said lightning hit a tree, sparking a fire. Homes were not threatened, and the fire was quickly contained.

The remaining four fires that are still burning in Butte County are in remote areas and pose no threat to structures or community.

In Tehama County at 8:45 a.m., CAL FIRE responded to three small fires in the area of Riverside Avenue and Rawson Road just west of Interstate 5 on the south side of Red Bluff. One of the fires burned two acres, but all of the fires were quickly contained.
