CHICO, Calif. -

A vegetation fire burned 6 acres near Hicks Lane and Oasis Drive in North Chico late Thursday morning and early afternoon.

Investigators said it was sparked by an illegal dooryard burn.  There is currently a burn ban in effect within Butte County.  The individual who started the fire was cited by a CAL FIRE investigator.

The fire was reported in the area around  11:40 a.m. Thursday.

By 1:30 p.m. the fire was fully contained.  Firefighters said it burned six acres in North Chico.

Firefighters said it destroyed one structure but no homes and burned onto the Chico Airport property.  The large plume of smoke drew a group of spectators to the airport to watch the firefighters do their work.
