BUTTE VALLEY, Calif. -

Medics responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at Clark Road and Durham Pentz Road, near Butte College Monday morning.

A road construction flagger was taken to the hospital by helicopter after she was hit by a car.

The collision happened around 7:15 a.m. on Clark Road between Durham-Pentz Road and Highway 70.  The CHP said  the collision involved two southbound vehicles.   The CHP said a PT Cruiser with female driver was going 40-45 mph, followed by a Nissan Sentra with a female driver going roughly the same speed.  The PT driver saw the flagger and slammed on brakes.  The Sentra hit the PT cruiser and hit the flagger.

The flagger is a female contractor for CAL TRANS estimated to be in her 40's. She was airlifted to Enloe Medical Center.  The CHP said she was coherent but suffered major injuries
