The flu bug has hit Chico State. As of Thursday, there were seven confirmed cases of students contracting the flu. Four of the seven are the more severe H1N1 virus.
The student health center on campus has been busier than usual. Nurse Supervisor Jill Cannady said this virus will put you out of commission for a week to 10 days.
”We have seen really high fevers, 103, 104,” said Cannady. “With that you get body aches and headaches. People don't have much energy. They're not eating, so they're very lethargic.”
The university held a flu shot clinic Wednesday. College students can spread the virus faster due to their close living quarters.
Cannady said everyone should get a flu shot, not just students.
If you do experience flu symptoms, you should stay home because the virus can spread to others.
