Former state senator gives money to sheriff's department for new K-9 officer
The Shasta County Supervisors Chambers turned into a kennel on Tuesday morning when a retired state senator and his wife were honored for making a $10,000 donation to the sheriff's department to buy a new deputy dog and pay for the required K-9 training.
Former State Senator Maurice Johannessen said that he was also a reserve deputy for 35 years and appreciates all that law enforcement does.
