Four injured, four killed in Highway 99 crash

YUBA CITY, Calif. -

Four Yuba City men were killed, and four Butte County residents injured in a two-car collision on Highway 99 in Sutter County.

The collision happened Tuesday at 2.30 p.m. south of Yuba City at Highway 99 and Oswald Road.

The driver of the Mercedes, 23-year-old Sonny Granados of Chico, was southbound on Highway 99.   

The CHP said the driver of  a 1997 Toyota Camry was westbound on Oswald Road, and pulled out from a stop sign into the path of the Mercedes on Highway 99.

The Mercedes hit the Camry between the front and rear passenger door, ejecting the passenger in the left rear seat.  That passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.

All four victims who died are from Yuba City.  They range in age from 40 to 53 years old.  Their names were not released pending notification of next of kin.

The four people in the Mercedes, all from Butte County, suffered minor to major injuries.  The driver, Granados,  suffered major injuries and was transported to U.C. Davis Medical Center.

Passenger May Subaran, 25 of Chico, suffered minor injuries  and was also taken to U.C. Davis.

Passengers Jennifer Gonzalez, 38 of Paradise,  and Lucia Granados, 30 of Chico, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Ridehout Hospital.
