GRIDLEY, Calif. -

Four teenagers were arrested in Gridley late Friday, accused of burglarizing a home.  A quick-thinking neighbor watched the crime in progress, and told deputies exactly where to find the suspects.

At 11:21 p.m., the Butte County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a citizen who reported that he could hear items breaking at a neighbor’s residence on Vermont Street, just outside of the city limits of Gridley. The reporting party said he could see flashlights inside of the home.

Gridley Biggs Police officers and Butte County Sheriff deputies responded to the break-in.

The witness said several suspects had walked away with property from the victim’s home to a nearby home. Deputies Jason Winkel and Jason Piazza along with Gridley Police officers went to the residence where the stolen property had been taken.

Three juveniles and an adult were found with items stolen in the burglary. The juveniles, whose names cannot be released because of their ages, were taken into custody.

Eduardo Avina, 18-years-old, from Gridley, was also taken into custody for burglary, resisting arrest and possession of stolen property. Avina was booked into the Butte County Jail with a bail of $68,000.00

The stolen property, which included electronics and jewelry, was returned to the victims.

This case is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Butte County Sheriff’s Office at 538-7321.
