Fundraisers underway for family of five-year-old boy killed in crash

The emotional impact from a fatal collision south of Los Molinos on Wednesday is stretching throughout the Northstate.
The community is still stunned. The crash on Highway 99 near Sherman Street claimed the life of five-year-old Gunner Langenderfer of Gerber.
His mother, 31-year-old Katie Ramsey, remains hospitalized with severe injuries.
This weekend, fundraisers were set up in support of the grieving family. Ramsey's friends, like former co-worker Melissa Cook, are gathering support any way they can.
"I'm just trying to do this stuff with the family. Friends that she's known for years are staying with her at the hospital," said Cook. "We're trying to get her spirits up."
On Saturday, Cook helped organize a car wash at Scoops Ice Cream in Red Bluff. She said any little donation was helpful.
"Some people are getting their car washed. Others are just stopping at the kids out here with the signs and donating, Cook said."
For the many people offering their assistance on Saturday, whether or not they know the mother and child was irrelevant.
"My boss just actually told me we were going to be doing a fundraiser here. We actually even opened early today," said Scoops employee Taylor Hamilton.
The Tehama County Young Marines volunteered their time. Some of them are nearly the same age as Gunner. They stepped in to provide the manpower.
"None of them know Gunner. But, unfortunately it's life, and what other way to show that than to come out here and help," said Director Jaime Crane.
Donation sites have been set up at the following locations in Red Bluff:
- Circle 7 Days
- First Love Tattoo
- The Palomino Room
- Bud's Jolly Kone
- Dutch Bros. Coffee (on Main Street)
- Dale's Carpet & Designs
You can make a donation in Gunner's memory by going to Cornerstone Bank and asking to donate to the Gunner Langenderfer Memorial Fund.
