Game invented using old cast iron truck rims

REDDING, Calif. -

After a community clean-up project uncovered them, Redding Rotarian Randy Smith, with help, pulled some 30 cast iron truck rims out of the Sacramento River in 2009.

There are still a few there, they had been used for erosion control before Shasta Dam was built.

On Monday, the rims were returned. They had been taken to Shasta College and welded into targets for a game created by Elin Klaseen's daughter.

You use bean bags or golf balls tied together by string to toss them at the hoops.

If you want to play the game, there are six targets set up near the lower parking lot on the southwest side of the Diestelhorst Bridge near the river trail.
